Sector expertise
Sola Carrena has over 22 years of relevant professional experience most of which has been in buying and selling companies in Africa across a wide range of sectors. Prior to joining Helios in September 2022, she spent 10 years at Stanbic IBTC Capital, where she was an Executive Director and Head of Corporate Finance. Previously, she was a Vice President in the Private Equity and Advisory team at Travant Capital Partners, a private equity and advisory firm in Nigeria. She also worked at Ocean and Oil Holdings, Accenture, and Procter and Gamble in Nigeria, earlier in her career. She holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Alberta in Canada, a BSc in Economics from the University of Lagos in Nigeria and is a CFA charterholder. A Nigerian national, Ms. Carrena speaks Yoruba.
Her domiciliation on the continent provides an important touchpoint for Helios to businesses in Africa. For Sola, Africa is home. She sees the vast opportunities, despite the continent’s difficulties and is proud to be a part of making a strong positive difference.
Helios focuses on the sectors that drive the real economy on the African continent. By backing carefully selected strategy aligned opportunities with substantial capital (which is scarce), they are helping to build meaningful institutions that will drive Africa’s development.
Outside of work, Sola is a lover of the arts in all its forms.
