Phil Davis

Phil Davis joined Helios in August 2020 and leads the firm’s ESG activities across the investment lifecycle. With over 18 years of professional experience in sustainability, spanning consulting and private equity roles, he has worked in more than 25 countries worldwide.

Before joining Helios, Phil was Head of Sustainability for EMEA at The Carlyle Group. Prior to that, he held roles as an Assistant Director in PwC’s Sustainability and Climate Change Consulting team and as an Environmental Consultant at AMEC Earth & Environmental UK Ltd. He holds a BSc in Environmental Management from the University of Birmingham and safety management certification from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

As part of the Portfolio Operations team, Phil collaborates with deal teams to manage ESG-related risks and unlock value creation opportunities across the Helios platform. He also serves on the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Private Equity Committee, contributing to the global evolution of ESG standards within the private equity industry.

Phil is particularly passionate about leveraging private capital to drive positive impact in Africa. He views the continent as uniquely positioned to achieve low-carbon growth and sees significant potential for businesses offering products and services that are "better, cheaper, and cleaner." His work includes supporting sustainability objectives across Helios, particularly through CLEAR, the firm’s dedicated climate impact investing strategy, ensuring alignment with "do no significant harm" principles.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys staying active by swimming and going to the gym. He also values time spent with his family, including his three children, and socializing with friends.
