Dominic Leong

Dominic Leong has 15 years of relevant professional experience. He joined Helios in September 2022 and leads Helios’ investments in tech-enabled business services. Dominic had a lead role in the execution of Helios’ investment into M2P, a B2B tech company that serves the banking and fintech sectors. Prior to joining Helios, Dominic was a Vice President at Emerging Capital Partners (ECP) based in Johannesburg. Before ECP, Dominic was an Associate Director at Ventura Capital, a technology investment firm, and he began his career at Delta Partners Corporate Finance (now a part of FTI Capital Advisors) where he executed M&A transactions in the TMT sector across Africa and Southeast Asia. Dominic received a Bachelor of Business Science in Quantitative Finance from the University of Cape Town and is a CFA charterholder. He is a South African national and is conversational in Spanish.

Dominic brings his experience in identifying and executing investments in high-growth potential businesses, with a particular focus on the technology sectors in Africa. With his expertise and market understanding, he enhances the team’s capabilities in sourcing and evaluating potential investment opportunities. Dominic gets to support companies that are leveraging technology to solve critical challenges. Working across these sectors gives him insight into the themes and trends that inform compelling investment opportunities.

Outside of work, Dominic enjoys spending time with his family, especially trying to keep up with his two young kids. He’s an avid Springbok fan, enjoys CrossFit and uses yoga to relax and recharge.
