Sector expertise

Mr. North has ~19 yrs of global energy, infrastructure, and sustainability experience as principal investor, senior lender, project developer and advisor. He is a Partner at Helios Investment Partners LLP and Co-Head of its climate investing strategy, Helios CLEAR Fund SCSp.
Prior to Helios, he was a senior leader within McKinsey’s Capital Projects & Infrastructure practice, based in Nairobi, and served clients in energy, water, transport, agriculture, and manufacturing – in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Before McKinsey, he led USAID’s Power Africa program in Kenya, working to unlock a large-scale energy access and renewables pipeline. Prior to Power Africa, led an energy & infrastructure investment banking team at Standard Bank across their ~20 African markets, where he advised on several ‘Africa first’ transactions. In the earlier parts of his career, he worked as UK-based investor-entrepreneur, successfully developing, constructing, and selling several wind, anaerobic digestion, and in-vessel composting facilities.
Mr. North is a recognized thought leader on emerging market decarbonization, and regular speaker at regional and global conferences. He holds an MBA from Saïd Business School (University of Oxford), and was elected an inaugural Business Fellow at the Smith School of Enterprise at University of Oxford. Earlier he gained B.Sc. (Mathematics) and B.Com. (Hons) (Actuarial Science) degrees from the University of Pretoria.
Outside of work, he prioritizes his family and enjoys holidays in South Africa’s Garden Route.
