Mr. Kaul has 25 years of experience in strategy consulting, M&A, restructuring, and business transformation across multiple business segments in developed and emerging markets. Prior to joining Helios in February 2018, he co-founded Syndeo Capital, a boutique advisory firm focused on M&A, restructuring, and operations management, primarily advising private businesses buying from or selling companies to private equity firms.
Previously, Mr. Kaul worked at Gates Corporation as President for diversified industrial and aftermarket businesses across emerging markets. He was a member of the Executive Committee and the senior management team that led the sale of Gates Corporation to Blackstone in 2014. Prior to Gates, Mr. Kaul worked at Tomkins for over 10 years in various senior roles. He was previously a senior manager at Arthur Andersen. Mr. Kaul serves on the Boards of Directors of Axxela, TPAY Mobile FZ-LLC, Misr Hytech, and T2S. He holds an MBA from Warwick Business School and an MSc in Investment & Portfolio Management from City University Business School. He also obtained a BSc in Business Management from King’s College, University of London. Mr. Kaul is an Indian and UK national and speaks Hindi.
Working alongside the firm’s operations and investment experts, Mr. Kaul supports management teams in driving growth across the portfolio. He leverages over 20 years of experience as a business leader in diversified sectors across emerging markets to accelerate the implementation of investment theses. He also maintains, develops, and builds a network of C-suite executives, board members, and sector & country advisors, providing significant value across investment cycles.
Since his early days in Congo (Brazzaville), Africa has been a growing pot of the young, the energetic, and the entrepreneurial for Mr. Kaul. His strategy is built and refined based on over 20 years of valuable investment and operating experience, a strong track record, and execution in the region.
Sports remain Mr. Kaul’s true passion outside work, especially racket sports, football, and cricket. He is also passionate about supporting charities such as Save the Children and Magic Bus, which focus on helping children break out of poverty and lead fulfilling, rewarding lives.
