Mr Obi has 25 years of relevant professional experience, and is the head of Public & Regulatory Affairs. He is also a member of the Helios’ Investment Committees. Mr Obi was previously the Partner/Chief Operating Officer of Helios from 2006 to 2018. Prior to Helios, he was a partner at Aureos Capital and was also a senior executive in the investment team at CDC (now BII).

Mr Obi is a Governor at the London Business School, and a trustee of prostate cancer UK. He was a board member of Eland Oil and Gas PLC, and was the Chairman of the Emerging Market Private Equity Association's (EMPEA) Africa Council based in Washington, DC. He holds a BSc and Msc in Architecture from the University of Nigeria, a BArch from the University of Nottingham, and an MBA from the London Business School. He was awarded a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2021 for services to public and political service. A Nigerian and Irish national, Mr Obi speaks Igbo.
